What combos should i use? Posted by bison812 on 01:15:2002 06:51 PM: You do know that this is a capcom sight right or is this a joke. Posted by Voodoo on 01:15:2002 07:51 PM: Baraka!! Or Sub Zero. Oh, and combos (ala capcom) weren't really in the MK series until MK3. Posted by FalconPain on 01:15:2002 08:12 PM: Hey, MK2 had some nice juggle combos, even if they're as corny as Sub-Zero jumpin kick, ground freeze, uppercut. They weren't MK3 chain combos (is that a good thing?), but the juggles were pretty nice. As for characters, I think Mileena is most widely regarded as the best character in the game. Jax is also good, but Mileena slaughters him specifically. Then again, I'm recalling a few message board posts and a GamePro here, so I could be wrong. Mileena combos? I remember her being able to jumpin kick, midair sai throw, roll under the opponent, and do a followup. I can't remember any good Jax combos from before MK3 (Woo! 12 hit combo using nothing but punches! Well, if that block hit counts as a punch...), so check elsewhere for those. I don't think there's a single good combo in MK2 that doesn't involve a jump kick somewhere to start the juggles, unless you count debilitating fireballs (spears and ice and that Reptile fly backwards thing), so work with that and see what follows. FalconPain Remembers being a Sindel fan and a Jarek fan. Posted by IcarusDownworks on 01:15:2002 10:03 PM: Use Kung Lao and just wait for them to do anything then teleport and kick them in the head. He also has a dope fatality I think, if that matters at all, heh. Posted by ChOsEn_OnE on 01:15:2002 10:08 PM: Use the Wizard! You have the best of both worlds. Just think about it. The moderators may move this post though. Keep MK2 alive! Posted by Iceman on 01:15:2002 11:23 PM: Some generic MK2 combos I still remember. Note: I don't think there were different animations for the different jumping punches or jumping kicks. So it shouldn't matter which you use. If I say air-to-air move I mean either punch or kick. Sub-Zero Jump-in Kick, slide. Jump-in Kick, ground Ice, uppercut or the combo above. I forgot if Jump-in HK, freeze worked. It may have been corner only if at all. Either way, if it works, use these some imagination and the above combos and you can do some sick stuff. Scorpion Air to air punch, air throw. Jump-in kick, teleport (in air), "GET OVER HERE", uppercut Jump-in kick, "GET OVER HERE", uppercut I think Jump-in kick, "take down" works. I forgot the take down's motion. Reptile jump-in kick, slide jump-in kick, acid spit might have worked. "yellow ball", uppercut. Thing is, you can do some decent stuff off of the "yellow ball" but somebody has to be blind to get hit by it more than once a week. Baraka Jump-in kick, b+HP Jump-in kick, Shredder I don't think jump-in kick, blade throw works. If it does, the timing was hard or something. Liu Kang Jump-in kick, air (or ground?) fireball Jump-in kick, flying kick jump-in kick, bicycle kick air-to-air move, air fireball Kung Lao Jump-in kick, dive kick air to air move, dive kick jump-in kick, hat throw I forgot if jump-in kick, teleport works. I think jump-in kick, spin works but either it was hard timing or corner only. Jax My favorite character air-to-air punch, air throw jump-in kick, air throw jump-in kick, "Gotcha" jump-in kick, "sonic boom" works I think, but really, just do "Gotcha" jump-in kick, ground pound probably does too, but once again, just do "Gotcha." Johnny Cage jump-in kick, fireball jump-in kick, "dragon punch" I forgot if jump-in kick, nutpunch worked (it obviously doesn't on Mileena and Kitana ) Mileena My other favorite jump-in kick, air sai air-to-air move, sai jump-in kick, teleport kick jump in kick, air sai, ground roll, teleport kick I think you could do the jump up sai after the ground roll, but I forgot. Kitana I liked her a lot as well. Combos were so fun jump in kick, air fan. jump-in kick, flying punch worked if I remember right. fan lift, jump kick/punch, air fan, flying punch. in corner, fan lift, jump kick/punch, air fan, uppercut (huge damage) Shang Tsung Jump-in kick, fireballs Raiden Jump-in kick, "superman" I forget if jump-in kick, lightning works. I may come back later and finish the other characters. As for who to use, Liu Kang was always easy. Jax is good and I think you could set up the ground pound off of a lot of stuff. His and Scorpion's air throws have sick priority in the air. Mash block anytime you jump with them. Scorpion makes for a hell of a turtle. Edit: I also liked to play Shang Tsung since I could access most of my favorite characters quickly. Tsung was not completly worthless as himself. He had decent jump-ins and a decent uppercut. Kung Lao had the best uppercut. The Girl Ninjas, Baraka, Liu Kang, and soembody I can't remember also had decent uppercuts. Jax and the Male Ninjas had the worst. By good and bad uppercuts I mean for use as anti-air. The Male Ninjas were better off using the b+HK for anti-air while Jax and Scorpion could use jump up air throw and be ok. Baraka had the best jump-ins. Posted by MJG on 01:16:2002 05:03 AM: quote: Originally posted by bison812 You do know that this is a capcom sight right or is this a joke. Though this is mainly a Capcom fighter site, there's no rule saying people can't ask about other games (especially other fighting games). In MK2 I would say Subzero or Raiden. Sub-zero is a very easy to pickup but strong character. Escpecially his freeze tecnique and the ground freeze, not to mention his low kick slide across the screen! Posted by Triv Somar on 01:16:2002 04:59 PM: Pick Up Liu Kang, the Original Rushdown/Keep Away Character. Seriously, with his flying kick (f,f+Hk) and Bicycle Kick (hold LK for 3 seconds, release), Liu could keep up with most any character, using these attacks to for a guarunteed hit after most blocked close attacks. ANd being the only character to have 3 levels of fireballs (high - f,f+HP, low - f,f+LP, and air - f,f+HP in air), Liu could play keep away all day to anyone who didn't have some kind of teleport move. I always considered Liu Kang a top tier character in MKII, his Bike Kick alone did more damage than an uppercut, and his Jump Kick, Bike Kick, Throw combo did at least 60%-70% damage. Mileena was another good top character in MKII, probably the best character. Her roll (b,b,d+HK)went under most fireballs, her Drop Kick (f,f+LK) acted liked a Teleport attack, and her Sai (hold HP for 1 second, release) could be done in air. Used well, very few could defeat her. Posted by NickTheStampede on 01:16:2002 05:13 PM: i cant stand mortal kombat....Capcom vs SNK 2 forever!!! I would love to see some videos of this game in tourneys. Anyone know anything about this games competetive history? Crayfish. All times are GMT. The time now is 12:07 AM.
